# Using bed layouts

Learn how to add Alternative Bed Layouts (e.g., converting a King to Twin). This allows you to show flexibility in your sleeping arrangements without creating duplicate rooms.

In the **Accommodation Platform**, you can define **Alternative Bed Layouts** for your rooms. This feature is used when a single physical room can be configured in multiple ways.

### **Why use this feature?**

Most rooms have a **Standard Bed Layout** (e.g., a King bed). However, many lodges offer the flexibility to split that King bed into two Single beds upon request.

- **It is not a new room:** This does not create extra inventory. It tells **Tour Operators and Agents** that the _same_ room can be converted to suit different clients (e.g., a couple vs. friends sharing).

- **Inventory Management:** By using this feature, you avoid the mistake of creating two separate room types (one Double, one Twin) which would mess up your availability count.

## **How to add an alternative layout**

1. **Sign in** to your **User Account** and access your listing.

2. Click the **Rooms** tab.

3. Click the **Edit** button (pencil icon) on the **Room Type** you wish to update.

4. Scroll down to the **Bedrooms** section.

5. Below your **Standard Bed Layout**, click the green link **\+ Add alternative bed layout for this room**.

6. Under **What kind of beds are in this room?**, select the bed type from the dropdown (e.g., King, Twin).

7. Enter the **Nr. of beds** (e.g., "1").

8. If the room has mixed bedding (e.g., a King and a Single), click **\+ Add another bed** to add the second type.

9. Click **Save**.

> **Warning:** Setting the **Max occupancy** for the bedroom is critical. It tells the system how many people can physically sleep in this specific room space, regardless of which bed layout is chosen.
